Brew Quotes: PETA Comes for Kim Kardashian

Kim Kardashian in fur

It’s no secret the people at PETA want to punch Kim Kardashian in the hind parts (not that she’d feel it) for her overuse of fur. Kim was spotted, once again, wearing fur during Paris Fashion Week with her boo/stylist/impregnator Kanye West and that made the PETA people go o-f-f. PETA spokesperson Wendy Wenger had some choice words for Mrs. Humphries:

Children of greedy, self-absorbed parents could follow their lead or they could break away and be alienated from and disgusted by them. Kim is a commodity; she is paid to wear things like fur, a particular makeup, or to shake hands with dictators, so she is not a good example to a child or anyone else of how to show a social conscience. Thankfully, this child will be growing up in a time when most people know how blatantly cruel it is to buy a coat made from someone else’s skin, so there is hope. Youngsters naturally identify and empathize with animals – so even though Kim and Kanye will undoubtedly serve as poor examples when it comes to kindness toward animals, perhaps their child will take after aunt Khloe and choose kindness by rejecting fur.

NFL baller Bret Lockett dropped trou for PETA’s “Ink, Not Mink” campaign. The safety for the New York Jets is totally nekkid, save for a strategically placed football. Get into it…

Bret Lockett for PETA

And for news on Justin Bieber’s new penchant for the sticky icky, plus the tea on Halle Berry’s ex and an endorsement deal that Kim Kardashian isn’t “real enough” for, press play for today’s What’s Brewing report for iDV8 Radio.

Cornball Corner: PETA

Recently PETA bloodied up some innocent mannequins to look at like dead bodies then lined them on the streets of New York to protest meat murders. I never really got into the whole animal debate thing. I’m not a fur chick and I gave up meat a while ago but I really don’t take sides. I do understand and respect someone’s passion for their cause but to me this is really DOING. THE. MOST.

Brew Quotes: PETA Is Not Pleased

Dear Miss Jackson If You’re Nasty:

PETA has a bone to pick with you…

Janet Jackson is the new face for the BlackGlama fur company as part of their new “What Becomes a Legend Most?” campaign. Now, PETA is taking a shot at Penny. Naturally, we saw this coming.

PETA spokeswoman Amanda Schinke says:

“It’s amazing what celebrities will do when their careers are on a downslide, but we didn’t think that Janet was this desperate. Surely she knows enough about suffering and unjustified death to recognize that both occur in the production of a fur coat. We are asking her to think again and to donate these stolen skins to be used as bedding for animals orphaned by other human-caused disasters, such as loss of habitat.”

Brew Bits: PETA Is Not Feeling Mike Tyson’s Pigeon Fest

Posted by Witch Hazel | Posted in brew bits, Mike Tyson, peta | Posted on 22-03-2010

PETA wants to go toe-to-toe with Mike Tyson of his new Animal Planet show, “Taking on Tyson” (tentative title).

PETA sent a letter to prosecutors in New York City asking them to investigate the show. They want prosecutors to look for illegal activity because “it is likely that extensive wagering will take place on the outcome of these races, as it customary in the industry” and PETA fears the birds may be treated cruelly.

In response to PETA’s feather-ruffling, Animal Planet says:

Regarding PETA’s latest allegations, I wanted to clarify that for Animal Planet’s Taking on Tyson show, there have never been any plans for wagering on the pigeon races. We have not yet begun filming but, rest assured, all of the pigeons that we will feature in the program are cherished and respected by their owners, including Mr. Tyson. Animal Planet will honor that respect and care in our production and in how these beautiful creatures are treated.

PETA stays on somebody’s tail feathers, huh?
